Planning Ahead

Dear MKT Family.
A significant matter related to funeral planning in Las Vegas has recently come to our attention, and I believe it is essential to keep you informed. End-of-life care and funeral arrangements are among the most sacred acts that we have in our tradition, and I take them very seriously.
One of our local mortuaries that served the Jewish community, Kraft/Sussman Funeral Homes, has been sold and is now under new ownership and management. Over the past year or two, we have experienced several issues with the latest management's inability or unwillingness to accommodate our religious values and requirements related to timely burial and Chevra Kadisha standards. I can no longer comfortably recommend their services.
If you did pre-planning with Kraft/Sussman under their previous management, you can seamlessly transfer that plan over to either King David Cemetery or CARE Funeral Services.
You can reach out to Jay Poster at King David 702.464.8750 or Aaron Forgey 702.343.6745 at CARE Funeral Services to help you through the process.
Please take advantage of the opportunity to switch to either of these companies, as they have a proven track record of aligning with the values of the Jewish community and our ritual practices.
If you have not made pre-arrangements, please take the time to do so. Our tradition draws on the lesson we learn from the Torah, where we read that Abraham took the time to ensure proper burial arrangements for Sarah, to teach us that we, too, should prepare for our own needs.
I am happy to help in any way I can, and I know Jay and Aaron are also available to assist.
Shabbat Shalom
Rabbi Bradley Tecktiel
