Chai Pop Hamen Hunters!

Purim is our holiday of satire, humor, and joyful exaggeration. The Book of Esther is a masterful tale about antisemitism in the diaspora, told with wit and irony. The story feels timeless: Jews settle in a foreign land, grow comfortable, and begin to assimilate. Then a Jew-hater—or a group of Jew-haters—targets our community, using us as scapegoats for the ills around them. Those who once felt secure suddenly face rage, persecution, and the threat of exile. Yet through courage and unity, our people endure and prevail.

Each year, we read and reread Esther, reliving Purim in every generation. Comedy, irony, and hyperbole help us process our struggles and teach our children resilience. Synagogues worldwide creatively retell the story with pop culture, plays, and memes so people of all ages can connect.

This year at MKT we’re adapting the K-Pop Demon Hunters theme—only now we’ll be Haman Hunters. Once again, we’ll stand up to those who would harm us, celebrate our survival, and reclaim our joy.

We’ve planned many fun events for Purim:

  • Sunday, March 1: Annual USY Purim Carnival

  • Monday evening, March 2: Dinner, Megillah reading, and a virtual Escape Room challenge

  • Tuesday (Minyan), March 3: A second Megillah reading

See our flyers and website for exact times and to reserve your spot.

Chag Purim Sameach!
