Mazel Tov Lev Sterling!

Lev Nisan Sterling, son of Midbar Kodesh Temple members Ryan and Rina Sterling, and brother to Tzofiya, will be called to the Torah at Midbar Kodesh Temple in April. Lev enjoys science, math, and history and excels in his studies with straight A's. He plays drums in the band at a local Henderson middle school and takes private drumming lessons. He often goes on hiking adventures with his dad, and enjoys swimming and rock climbing and is on the climbing team at Origin Climb. Lev is an active member in MKT USY, having just graduated into the program from Kadima. He attends Ma'ayan, an educational program for post bar and bat mitzvah students through 12 grade. Lev spends his summers at Camp Ramah in Ojai, California.

Recent headlines gave Lev the idea to partner with the Jewish Coalition for Disaster Relief for his Mitzvah Project. The JCDR helps provide countless refugees and displaced persons humanitarian relief and basic needs. He successfully sold bracelets made by Pura Vida, who provides artisan jobs for people in Costa Rica and will donate the money he raised to JCDR. In this way he supported two organizations.

Lev is looking forward to celebrating his bar mitzvah with his grandparents Alan and Wendy Roselinsky, also members of Midbar Kodesh Temple and Chuck and Penny Sterling of Etz Chaim in Thousand Oaks, California. Many cousins, aunts and uncles and other family will travel from all over the United States to join the Sterlings. Lev looks forward to traveling to Israel this summer with family from both sides including all four of his grandparents, his cousins and aunts and uncles. One of Lev's cousins will celebrate her bat mitzvah at the southern wall and he will be called to the Torah at a synagogue in Jerusalem.
