Mazel Tov Jonah Tecktiel!


Jonah Tecktiel, son of Susan and Rabbi Bradley Tecktiel, will be called to the Torah at Midbar Kodesh Temple in January. He will be joined in celebration by his sister Tamar and brother Ari as well as grandparents Irma and Jack Mayer and Bob and Harriet Tecktiel and many friends and family from far and near. Jonah, a 7th grader at Adelson Educational Campus who is always deep in thought, enjoys his studies in science and history with science and technology innovation as hobbies. He is a Regional History Bee finalist. He likes to swim, play baseball and participates in theater. Jonah just transitioned from Midbar's Kadima program to USY and looks forward to taking on leadership roles and traveling with the teens to share shabbaton weekends in the region. He will attend Ma'ayan, the post b'nei mitzvah program at Midbar Kodesh Temple. Jonah's love of sports and kind compassion for people brought him to volunteer at Sport Social, which is an organization that helps build self-confidence, social skills, and positive behaviors among children of all ages and abilities. With one on one training and small group structures the Sport Social team helps the children develop the social skills, emotional maturity, and positive behaviors that will equip them to communicate effectively. While engaging in athletic activities, the arts, computers, and music instructors and volunteers use positive reinforcement in helping children with Autism and other developmental disabilities achieve to their highest potential.
