A Shared Spiritual Moment

Over the past several months many of us having been longing for Jewish spiritual connections. Our own Midbar Kodesh Temple serves all of us as a sacred space to pray, reflect, contemplate, and meditate. Sadly, because of the Coronavirus, many of us have not been able to access this special space. Though we have opened to in-person on Friday nights, not everyone is ready to venture in.

We know that although we plan to have in-person and live streamed services for the High Holidays, many will still not feel comfortable being in public and watching on a computer screen often lacks the desired holiness for which we yearn. Therefore, in the spirit of community togetherness, we want to offer the opportunity for a private, shared, spiritual moment for individuals, couples, and families.

Starting Friday morning August 21, which corresponds to the first day of the Hebrew month of Elul, we will take appointments for members to come and share a moment before the ark (similar to the way we allow congregants a few private moments in front of the ark at Neilah on Yom Kippur). We invite members to share in this unique spiritual moment, and will take appointments through Friday September 25.

I will join you, socially distanced, for a prayer or two and then allow you to have a private moment to yourselves. We will conclude with the sounding of the shofar.

Rest assured we will follow our current Covid protocols to keep everyone safe and this opportunity will be by appointment only. If you are interested in taking advantage of this opportunity please contact Becky Lewis (becky@midbarkodesh.org) or call the office at 702 454 4848.
