Mazel Tov Ethan Kane!
Ethan Harris Kane, son of Midbar Kodesh Temple members Nancy and Mitchell Kane, brother to Jason, and grandson of Lois and David Gross from Marlboro, New Jersey and Alan Kane from Las Vegas and Myra Kane of blessed memory, will be called to the Torah in February.
Ethan is a proud graduate of Solomon Schechter Day School of Las Vegas. He is now enrolled in a math and science magnet program in a CCSD middle school. He plays the guitar, is on the school's Rubik’s cube team and participates as a team member of CyberPatriot, a National Youth Cyber Education Program for middle and high school students. He attends Ma'ayan and is a member of MKT USY and also attends Camp Alonim each summer. Ethan hopes to study medicine when he graduates from undergraduate school and looks forward to becoming a surgeon.
For his mitzvah project, Ethan and other students raised money for the Las Vegas Victims Fund with a neighborhood lemonade stand. They raised over $1200 in 3 hours. Ethan also volunteers with the Las Vegas Animal Foundation.
Ethan says that "being Jewish is an important part of who I am. What I have learned at home, Solomon Schechter, Camp Alonim and at Midbar Kodesh Temple has helped to instill Jewish values into my life. Someday I hope to share these values and traditions with my own family.”
