Camp Shemesh will be in session through July 24!

Camp Shemesh, a Summer program for children 18 months to 5 years old at Midbar Kodesh Temple, started in full swing earlier this month as children returned to the building for the first time since March, when the synagogue building and school closed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Now back, the parents, preschool staff and students are working under special protocols to stay safe and healthy.

The children busy themselves in the vegetable garden which will eventually house an adopted tortoise. They are preparing and watering a compost bin and learning how worms enrich the soil for the veggies they are growing for their tortoise. They have enjoyed several science projects including how to safely set off a water rocket in the parking lot.

During water time they learned how bubbles are made. Art, music, and playtime round out the warm summer days. Fridays find the children lining up for a cold treat when the Kona ice truck pulls up to the campus.

Camp Shemesh will be in session through July 24. For more information go to: https://www.midbarkodesh.org/camp-shemesh. After camp the ECC staff will begin to regroup for the August opening of the Early Childhood Center at Midbar Kodesh Temple and are now taking reservations for those classes.
