Marv Abramson, with his wife Gail, of blessed memory, moved to Las Vegas in March 2000

Marv Abramson, with his wife Gail, of blessed memory, moved to Las Vegas in March 2000 from Omaha, Nebraska, where he lived for 62 years. They joined Midbar Kodesh Temple in 2001, and traveled to Israel with a synagogue group in 2005. In Omaha, Marv, Gail, and their children were members of Omaha's Beth El conservative community. Their children, now adults, were part of the USY program there. Marv retired as a layout foreman from Western Electric, which became known as Omaha Works, a major supplier of cable and apparatus for the Bell System. The plant took on many lives and finally closed in 2011.

You will meet Marv at the front door of Midbar's sanctuary, as he has welcomed Shabbat guests there for almost 20 years. For the past 7 years he has served as President of HAZAK, a group for active 55 and over Jewish adults and currently serves on Midbar's board of directors. Marv enjoys going to the gym, baking and attending various activities at Midbar Kodesh. His daughter Michelle Tuiaana is also a member of MKT and joins in many of the activities and services.

Marv said that he feels "like Midbar and its members are my extended family and friends" and looks forward to the end of COVID-19, when we can resume our warm welcome with a hug and kiss. But for now, Marv is content to participate in morning minyan and Shabbat services online with Midbar Kodesh Temple.
