Riley Jacob Cwik, son of Midbar Kodesh Temple member Marc Cwik and Jorie Cooper Cwik, will be called to the Torah at the synagogue on March 7.  Riley's brother, Maxton, and grandparents, Dr. Arnold and Shelly Cwik and Mrs. Susan Cooper, will be joining family and friends from Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, New Mexico, Florida, Las Vegas and Henderson in celebration of this special occasion.

Riley is a 7th grader at a local middle school excelling in all classes.  He would like to go to engineering school.  His passion is music and he likes to play the drums when he is not in school or working.  Riley participates in his middle school band and plans to take private drum lessons this summer.

Riley enjoys traveling and regularly goes fishing in the rivers of Alaska with his father.  He enjoys taking care of animals which led him to his Mitzvah Project. He will be supporting the Animal Foundation, and asks that his classmates and their families, and the congregation drop off unopened dog food or cat food and/or other new or unused pet items to the bins in the Early Childhood Center rotunda or the main sanctuary rotunda, or they may support the Animal Foundation directly by going on line to: https://animalfoundation.com/ways-give/wish-list, then follow the prompts to the Amazon wish list to see items from $4.00 on up.  Riley enjoys participating in Tikkun Olam projects and hopes to help build a better world.  He looks forward to making that happen as a teen, later in college, and as an adult will contribute to helping make a difference through Social Action and Tzedakah.  As a B'nei Mitzvah student, Riley is participating in a group Tikkun Olam Project, where the teens will select projects together.  In May they will use a $1,000.00 contribution from the David L. Simon Foundation to fund the projects they select together as members of the Simon Foundation Junior Board.

Riley has worked hard in preparing for his Bar Mitzvah and reminds us all "that it is not as easy as you might think!"
