Hadassah of Southern Nevada will share a special program on Human Trafficking in Las Vegas, which has been identified as a "most likely destination" city for Human Trafficking. The program, scheduled at Midbar Kodesh Temple on October 28 at 2 p.m., will tell of the illegal trade of human beings for the purposes of reproductive slavery, commercial sexual exploitation, and forced labor as it occurs in the state of Nevada. It is widely recognized as a modern-day form of slavery. Human Trafficking includes the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harboring or receipt of persons by means of threat or use of force or other forms of coercion, abduction, fraud, or deception. While all forms of Human Trafficking are illegal, and the penalties can lead to a lengthy prison term or even to life in prison, it is so profitable and difficult to identify, criminals find the risk worthwhile.
Hadassah Southern Nevada wishes to raise awareness of Human Trafficking and of its victims; teach how to recognize, protect and prevent Human Trafficking; and learn what is being done to fight Human Trafficking in the state of Nevada and across the nation. A Q&A panel discussion will follow the presentation. Hadassah, a proud member of the Jewish Coalition Against Trafficking, recommends a $5.00 per person donation at the door.
