Midbar Kodesh Temple Welcomes The Holocaust Resource Center

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: HOLOCAUST RESOURCE CENTER RELOCATES TO MIDBAR KODESH TEMPLE IN HENDERSON

The Sperling Kronberg Mack Holocaust Resource Center has relocated to Midbar Kodesh Temple, located at 1940 Paseo Verde Parkway in Henderson, Nevada, after being in the City of Las Vegas for almost 40 years.

The center was established in 1980 by an endowment from the Lloyd and Edythe Katz Family in memory of Edythe’s parents Gertrude and Hyman Sperling. Because of generous donations from Lillian and Henry Kronberg and Judy and Ron Mack, the collection was enlarged and a media center was added. The Holocaust Resource Center is open to the public, regardless of religious affiliation. The community is welcome to browse the library and borrow books and materials.

Midbar Kodesh Temple is a conservative synagogue in Henderson, Nevada. The synagogue, Religious School, Early Childhood Center and David L. Simon Foundation Center for Education and Tikkun Olam (Repairing the World) is located on a four-acre campus in the Green Valley Ranch neighborhood. Midbar Kodesh Temple is currently celebrating it’s 21st anniversary as part of the Southern Nevada community.

The new location of the center in the David L. Simon Foundation Center for Education and Tikkun Olam will be a lending facility for books and other materials relevant to the Holocaust. It will remain a hub for Holocaust Education activities and programs in Nevada. The center will continue to offer teacher training workshops for educators in the Clark County School District.

Midbar Kodesh Temple has been given the permanent photo exhibit of Survivors living in Southern Nevada and the collection will be on display at the center.

The work of the center is made possible because of allocations allotted to the Governor’s Advisory Council on Education Relating to the Holocaust by the State Legislature and by private donations. The Sperling Kronberg Mack Holocaust resource center provides print, non-print and electronic resources free to the public to support the council's mission to develop programs for the education of children and adults in issues relating to the Holocaust, tolerance and diversity.
