Just over a year ago our community was rocked by the tragedy of the mass shooting at the Route 91 Harvest concert. We all know now how much the massacre affected the victims, victims’ families, first responders and citizens of the valley. We also know the amazing way in which the community came together to help and support those deeply affected by the trauma of that evening. From the overflowing lines to donate blood, to the social workers, to the psychologists and mental health workers all the way to charitable contributions on behalf of the victims, showed our community strength, support and resilience. Meet Miss Val at the Midbar Kodesh Early Childhood Center!

Val McAllister is the Lead Teacher for the Pre-K program at the Midbar Kodesh Early Childhood Center, teaching the 4 years olds of the Kochavim class. Miss Val has been with Midbar Kodesh Temple's Early Childhood Center for more than 17 years, working with the children when she was a teenager. She recently earned a Bachelor Degree in Educational Studies from Ashford University. Miss Val has been on the summer camp staff of Midbar Kodesh Temple for several years. Miss Val worked with LOVAAS, a behavioral intervention program developed in the Psychology Department of UCLA under the direction of Dr. O. Ivar Lovass. She brought intervention skills to children with Autism to help reduce inappropr

Meet Miss Suzanne!

Suzanne Greenberg returns to Midbar Kodesh Early Childhood Center and will be working with the 3 year old Pilonim class. Miss Suzanne has worked in early childhood education for almost 15 years, coming to Las Vegas from California after living in New York for a few years. Miss Suzanne earned her degree in Early Childhood Education at the College of Southern Nevada and has worked with all aged children, including infants. She is mom to four children and looks forward to teaching Pilonim this year. Miss Suzanne's teaching assistant will be Nicole Cox.

Meet Miss Sharon at the Midbar Kodesh Early Childhood Center!

Sharon Winkler, Lead Teacher in the 3 year old Pilonim class, is a familiar face to Midbar Kodesh Temple as she and her family have been members for more than 20 years and has been on the Early Childhood Center teaching staff for five years. She is married to Dr. Steven Winkler, and both of their children were educated in the Midbar Kodesh Religious School, celebrating their Bar and Bat Mitzvah in our sanctuary. The Winklers traveled with family on a trip to Israel where they celebrated their daughter's bat mitzvah at Masada. Meet Miss Johanna!

Metukeem Teacher Johanna Gonzalez just completed her third year at the Midbar Kodesh Early Childhood Center, working with 18 month - 2 year olds. She said that she is "excited to continue to teach alongside dedicated and wonderful teachers" and is pleased to watch the children grow, feeling fortunate to play a role in their learning and development. Parents are consistently pleased by the learning and social emotional development that Miss Johanna encourages and supports. Miss Johanna grew up in Los Angeles and has an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Los Angeles Mission College. She brings 16 years of experience to the ECC.
