Often times we are our own worst enemies... Every year as we approach Tisha B’av, the commemoration of the severe calamities that have befallen the Jewish people, I am left with a nagging question about its continued relevance to our lives. How can we on the one hand revel in the beauty, innovation and growth of the modern State of Israel, while on the other hand, fast and mourn over the destruction of the ancient Temples? How can we sit and chant from the book of Lamentations, while we are in the middle of reading Start Up Nation? Abby Stidham to be called to the Torah at Midbar Kodesh Temple

Abby Leah Stidham, daughter of Midbar Kodesh Temple members Heidi Stidham and Michael Stidham will be called to the Torah in September. Abby, who says nothing is impossible as the very words indicate that "I am possible," volunteers in a local retirement center. She brings her caring, gentle and kind demeanor to the retirement center as she enjoys spending time with the residents making them smile, playing a game of bingo, exercising and sharing afternoon meals. Abby's classes at middle school include Pre- Algebra, Orchestra, Science, Geography, Language Arts and PE/Health. She plays the viola, swims and participates in MKT USY. Midbar Kodesh Temple's Steven Doctors returns as Youth Director

Midbar Kodesh Temple's Steven Doctors returns as Youth Director of the synagogue as he resumes his position of director and advisor for junior and senior USY (United Synagogue Youth). Steven, who works for local entertainers, stepped down 2 years ago because of work and family obligations. At that time he had been coordinating with Cantor Daniel Gale to oversee the programming of USY, Kadima and Katan. Former Midbar Kodesh Temple USYer Alayna Baron took the position after Steven. She is leaving Las Vegas to prepare for an upcoming wedding and to take a teaching position in Los Angeles. Meet our newest members: The Rosenberg-Moas Fam!

Hello, Midbar Kodesh Temple! We are Daryl Rosenberg and Shanee Moas (soon-to-be-Rosenberg, too!). Daryl is a pilot for a local, charter jet company and Shanee is a psychotherapist with a private practice near UNLV. We've been seeing Rabbi Brad for premarital counseling for the last few months before he officiates our wedding, and we are so thrilled to become a part of the Midbar Kodesh Temple family. We can't wait to get to know more of you as we embark on our journey as a married couple.

Adam Kartzinel completes his Mitzvah project

Adam Kartzinel, son of Jessica and David Kartzinel, who celebrated his Bar Mitzvah at Midbar Kodesh Temple in January 2017, selected to run a Tennis Tournament Charity Pro-Am event as his mitzvah project. After much planning the tourney took place in April. Adam's successful event raised over $4325 which benefited the Marty Hennessy Inspiring Children Foundation, an ultimate environment for a child to become their best in all areas of life, including academics, athletics, interpersonal skills, leadership and character development. Funds were raised through the entry fees for players, entry fees for spectators, bidding for amateurs wanting the best partner, a silent auction and a bake sale
